Memory Paths I

Memory Paths is a short video based on oral histories of people living in the Mackay region. It recreates real and imagined landscapes from the past as recalled by long term residents.

As it is the 150th anniversary year for Mackay, visual artists Donna Maree Robinson and Tracey Johnson teamed up with sound artist Fiona Bishop-Vuibeqa with the aim of illustrating stories of the everyday lives of local people, which are the warp and weft of the fabric of history. Rather than attempting to re-create literal landscapes, it evokes landscapes of the memory, infused with dreams and emotions in a rich visual and aural rendition of the past.
